CRK Training Stable offers 6 weeks of Summer Ranch Camp forages 8 & up. Parent and child welcome to attend camp together! CRK Ranch Camp is excellent for all experience levels as campers are grouped according to their riding abilities. Parents can ride along or attend the Friday Ranchers Rodeo and see what the kids have learned! Camp fees include a CRK Stable T-shirt*, Backpack*, horse science study booklet, craft materials, and use of our horse or board for your horse. 2008 Summer sessions are: #1 June 23-27 #2 July 7-11 #3 July 14-18 #4 July 21- 25 #5 Aug. 4-8 #6 Aug. 11-15 SAMPLE DAILY CAMP SCHEDULE 9:00AM- Check-In & Orientation 1st Class-Horse Grooming & Care 2nd Class-Horseback Riding 15 Min. Beginners will learn to mount and ride at a walk and trot, circle, reverse and stop. Advanced riders will improve on their current skills while working patterns, trail obstacles and "jumping" courses. Grooming & Horse Care- Learn to take care of your very own real live horse. Skills such as catching, haltering, leading, tying, grooming, saddling and bridling will all be included. If you already know how to do all this, you will learn the art of showmanship. Horse Science- In this class you will use the provided study guide to learn about horse terms, colors, breeds, feeds, saddles, bridles & bits. Advanced students will learn about common diseases, parasites, hoof care and cleaning tack. All students will get to watch our farrier trim a hoof and replace a horse’s shoe. Animal Science- This class will teach you about our livestock and how to care for them. Includes information about cattle, goats, chickens, rabbits, sheep and pigs. Live animal handling and care are also included in this fun class. Ranch Life & Games- This class is all about how ranch living. You will learn about roping and ranching. You will also learn about gardening and other types of ranch chores. Ranch games like horseshoes will also be included in this class. This class has something for everyone. Crafts- Cowboys & Cowgirls alike will enjoy creating some wonderful crafts. All materials are provided to personalize your own backpack, make a bracelet or your very own cowboy hat! Ranchers Rodeo- This fun event happens every Friday. Parents are welcome to attend and see what the campers have learned during the week. Events such as Horsemanship, Showmanship, Critter Competition (a form of Jeopardy) and the fast and fun ranchers race are included with ribbons for the winners. |
